Learn to Be Mindful

Mindfulness practice teaches that we always get to choose what gets our attention-and how to attend. We learn to embrace with skill and clarity whatever life brings, recognizing each moment as precious and worthy of our full attention and gratitude, even when life doesn't seem to be going our way. In a sense, it is about discovering the richness available to us in both the joy-filled and the challenging circumstances life brings.

In this 8-week course participants meet for 2.5 hours on Thursday evenings. We learn to see without judgment and learn to just BE, rather than to always DO. Not so easy for most of us in this busy life!

We practice working with breath, re-inhabiting the body through the practices of yoga and yoga nidra, and learning to work with the mind by practicing formal sitting meditation. There are also lectures, reading as well as time for group practice and discussion.

Weekly homework assignments help us bring the practice into our own lives, for the benefit of ourselves and others. Participants will receive seven .mp3 files and other e-resources for home practice. In October there is the opportunity to attend a silent retreat. We practice together in class, but the true benefits of this work are seen as you grow in incorporating what we do together outside of class.

I hope you’ll consider this to be a lifelong gift to yourself, creating the time and space to learn to be yourself, embrace your uniqueness, and realize you are beyond comparison. Your only job is to learn to be the best YOU you can be! Come join us! Change your life!
